Admission arrangements
Here you will find details of the Academy’s admission arrangements, including our selection and oversubscription criteria, published admission number and the school’s process for applications through the local authority. All procedures relating to admissions and appeals are dealt with by the local authority – Newcastle City Council.

Nursery pupils join us in September after their third Birthday. We have January and April start dates available to our full-time nursery provision too. At Hilton Primary Academy, we can accommodate up to sixteen 2 year old children in our specialist pre-school unit.
Reception pupils are usually admitted to school in the September of the school year in which their fifth birthday falls.
Mid-year admissions or in-year transfers are managed through applications via Newcastle City Council and are subject to available places. The usual admissions policy approved by the Governing Body applies. Parents requesting a place will be required to have a short meeting with the Principal before their child starts, to gather information. This will ensure that every child settles with us as quickly as possible, with tailored provision in place.
Hilton Primary Academy benefits from spacious accommodation on a large site which includes an orienteering course and a (British Legion recognised) remembrance memorial. All of our classrooms and corridors were extensively refurbished recently. During the last two years we have invested heavily in reading (to include two well stocked libraries, a Starbooks Café and book vending machine) and ICT infrastructure to provide Chromebooks throughout the academy which enhance learning experiences for all children. We have excellent sporting facilities with two playgrounds, two fields and an indoor sports hall. In 2019, we commissioned work to enhance Early Years outdoor learning areas. This year, we are focussed on developing our Jubilee Garden and transforming five internal quadrants into inspirational learning zones, including a sensory garden, in partnership with Sky Arts. There is a noticeable praise culture embedded at Hilton. Children applaud each other and visit our PROUD station daily. We empower children to thrive ‘in their element’ in a safe environment.
