Northern Education Trust Hilton Primary Academy hosts visit from Lord Mayor
Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Habib Rahman, visits Hilton Primary Academy
During half term, Northern Education Trust Hilton Primary Academy hosted a visit from the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Habib Rahman.
During a conversation at the academy’s summer family fun day with Hilton Academy’s Principal, Andrew Cowan, the Lord Mayor became interested in the improvements and opportunities Northern Education Trust provides children from the Blakelaw area and asked to visit the school to see it first-hand.
The Lord Mayor thoroughly enjoyed his tour of Hilton, meeting children in every class and even giving out prizes in the weekly PROUD celebration where students share their best work of the week. The Lord Mayor enjoyed tea with Head Boys, Head Girls and Academy Ambassadors and was made to feel very welcome within the academy.
Lord Mayor, Habib Rahman, commented, “This is a fantastic school where children clearly flourish.” He went on to commend teaching and learning at Hilton, “I am so impressed with the work the children produce – they make so much progress during their time here.”
The visit was a great success, ending with the Lord Mayor offering to host a trip to Newcastle’s Civic Centre so students are able to see where he works.
